Home : a new outpost to be protected… and added to the cloud
According to a study conducted by Capgemini, companies have increased their productivity thanks to the teleworking practices urgently introduced in response to lockdowns, particularly at IS department level, where higher than average productivity has been shown under teleworking.
But with a high potential for misunderstandings and inadequate systems of organisation, there is still a long way to go to achieve a model that satisfies employers and employees alike.
It is now essential to rethink the organisation and planning of teleworking, as well as the supervision and improvement of staff performance.
2020 was a year of great uncertainty, and companies everywhere came to regard teleworking as the solution of the future. During lockdown, many companies adopted teleworking as a new way of operating, enabling staff to work from home using new technologies, via their own devices such as computers, tablets or mobile phones.
Cloud computing has thus become an essential link, since it has several key advantages, including immediate data sharing, instant availability of applications and working environments, and the ability to monitor evolution of your platform in real time.
However, there are certain prerequisites for the implementation of cloud computing: the most important of these is the confidentiality and security of your data. It is therefore essential that this is handled correctly, in order to avoid its theft or illicit use. For example, remote connections must be supervised to check, in particular, the centralised updating of applications and the security of remote links.
Mobility appears to be a driver of performance for companies that are willing to play the game: offices can be smaller, working hours more flexible, etc.
To ensure the success of this new work organisation, managers must establish a climate of trust and freedom among their employees.
For this to work perfectly, i.e. without reducing everyone’s productivity, the IT tools used must be adjusted to these new needs.
So, being a nomadic company is all well and good, provided you adjust your company’s IT operations accordingly!
